Irene Christ  (German)
Artistic Manager

Irene Christ is an actress by profession. She trained in Germany and acted for many years in various prestigious theatres such as Schauspielhaus Bochum, Duesseldorfer Schauspielhaus, Volksbuehne Berlin. Irene has worked with several well known theatre and film directors including: Leander Haussmann, Dimiter Gotscheff, Christina Paulhofer, Klaus Emmerich, Uwe Dag Berlin and Juergen Kruse; Mike Wadding from the UK.

She also worked in New York with director Josh Fox.

Roles in Malta include: Ellida in ‘The Lady from the Sea’ (Ibsen); Phyllis in ‘Fat Men in Skirts’ (Silver), Alkmene in ‘Amphitryon’ (Kleist), Martha in ‘Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf’ (Albee), Blanche in 'A Streetcar Named Desire' (Williams). Please click here for a more detailed list of roles.

TV: several roles in Germany, BBC docu drama, Maltese TV. Irene has lived in Malta on and off since 1998 and teaches drama. She runs ACTINGHOUSE PRODUCTIONS.

Julian Manduca† (Maltese), 1958 - 2005
Finance and Marketing Manager

Julian Manduca was a communications studies graduate with a background in auditing and journalism. He worked as consultant editor at Newsworks Ltd (MaltaToday). He was a manager at Sapienza's book shop and part of the management team of the ethical trade organisation Aw Tribu Tip Top. Julian Manduca ran the University Film Club for seven years and was the coordinator of Friends of the Earth Malta.

Together with Irene Christ he ran ACTINGHOUSE PRODUCTIONS till his sudden death in May 2005.



Frank Hoerner  (German)

Studied acting in Germany and worked as an actor before he started directing in 1995. Theatres amongst others: Staatstheater Mainz, Schauspielhaus Bochum, Theater an der Kö in Duesseldorf.

Frank Hoerner has worked continually with Actinghouse, directing ‘The Open Couple’ (Fo, Rame), ‘The Lady from the Sea’ (Ibsen), ‘On the Seduction of Angels’ (Brecht, Weill) and ‘Amphitryon’ (Heinrich von Kleist), ‘Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf’ amongst others.

Cornelia Crombholz  (German)

Studied acting in Germany and directing at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna. Theatres she has worked at include: Residenztheater Munich, Berliner Ensemble, Theater Graz.

Cornelia Crombholz also works regularly with Actinghouse Productions. She directed ‘Fat Men in Skirts’ (Nicky Silver) and James Saunder’s ‘A Slight Accident’.

Set Design

Zvezdan Reljic  (Serbian)
Graphic designer. Designs stage, posters, programmes and our website. Productions: ‘Fat Men in Skirts’ (Silver), ‘Amphitryon’ (Kleist), ‘A Slight Accident’ (Saunders), ‘Dinner’ (Buffini) amongst others.

Adrian Mamo (Maltese)
Architect. Has worked with several Maltese theatre companies for many years and designed set and poster / programme for Actinghouse’s ‘The Open Couple’ (Fo, Rame), ‘The Lady from the Sea’ (Ibsen), set for ‘Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf’ (Albee)

Costume Design

Jasmina Reljic  (Serbian)
Designs and makes costumes for all our productions.


All actors have worked with a number of theatre companies in Malta, most of them for many years and in big roles. Jes Camilleri, Anthony Ellul and Marc Cabourdin have also directed. Pia Zammit has directed a TV programme. Clare Agius produces and presents her own daily TV programme. Edward Mercieca runs a theatre school and FM Productions. Several of these actors are founding members of Theatre Anon.
